NXP Semiconductors
Company Overview: NXP Semiconductors, the newly independent semiconductor company founded by NXP, has been active in the field of secure smart card solutions for over 15 years, having led the market with the implementation of innovative solutions such as cryptography and contactless technology in that time. Security has always been a key priority in product development, and NXP is leading the Common Criteria certification approach for products that target secure applications such as payment and e-government. NXP was the first smart card manufacturer to achieve CC EAL5+ certification by the German Federal Office of Information Security -- the highest level of security certification awarded to any smart card chip available. The company worked with Visa and IBM to introduce the 'Smart Breakthrough Program,' a major achievement that enabled a fast migration of JavaCard solutions based on the GlobalPlatform standard for smart cards in Payment services. NXP offers a broad range of smart card IC solutions ranging from high-end to low-cost with or without support of contactless interface technology and public key capabilities. All ICs are optionally available with a fully qualified and customizable Java Card operating system. Our product portfolio covers contact, contactless, dual and triple (USB) interface secure smart card chips and reader ICs, as well as leading-edge multi-application solutions.
