Card Technology Two-day Training Session

This session will cover the following topics:
Day 1

  • GlobalPlatform overview of card, device and systems technology
  • GlobalPlatform definitions - including roles, responsibilities and recognized business models
  • Detailed explanation of GlobalPlatform Card Specification - including secure channels, security domains and application programming interfaces
  • Outline of the differences and similarities of Card Specification v2.1.1 and v2.2
  • Introduction to Card Specification v2.2 Amendment A - Confidential Card Content Management and main use cases
  • GlobalPlatform Card Configuration overview - including GlobalPlatform Card Specification v2.1.1 Mapping Guidelines and the UICC Configuration.

Day 2

  • Examples of card structure and deployment model supported by a UICC Configuration
  • Detailed explanation of the most recent amendments to GlobalPlatform Card Specification v2.2:
    • Amendment B - remote application management over HTTP
    • Amendment C - contactless services technology to facilitate application selection by the end-user within a contactless and near field communication (NFC) environment
    • Amendment D - Secure Channel Protocol (SCP) 03 alignment for key management systems
  • Card Compliance Program overview
  • Introduction to GlobalPlatform Card Networked Framework v1.0
  • Systems technology update -GlobalPlatform Messaging Specification and trusted service manager (TSM) extension, Smart Card Management System and Profile and Scripting Specifications.

The sessions will be delivered in English by a GlobalPlatform instructor.

Who can attend?

The session is open to GlobalPlatform members and non-members. To provide a dynamic learning environment, the sessions will be limited to a minimum of 5 students and a maximum of 15 students.

Non-members - US $2,195
*Organizations sending multiple students to the training session will receive additional discounts as follows:

  • 2 students = US $200 discount per student
  • 3+ students = US $350 discount per student

    • Main processes supported in 1.0 (UICC centric)
      • Service Eligibility
      • Service Installation (including Amendment C and Access Control mechanisms description)
      • Service life-cycle management
        • Lost & stolen process
        • Change of handset_/_USIM
      • Service termination
    • Use case workshop (white board exercise)
      • Illustrate usage of Global Platform messages for a given process and for a defined business model

Who can attend?

This course is designed to be an extension of the two-day Card Specifications training class. Students who have not previously attended a two-day Card Specification training class may find the 'GlobalPlatform for Contactless' curriculum difficult to put into context. We highly recommend that students who register for 'GlobalPlatform for Contactless' have previously attended the Card Specifications Training as a prerequisite.
