Gil Bernabeu

GlobalPlatform – Technical Director

Mr. Bernabeu is the Technical Advisor for the Standardization and Technology Department at GlobalPlatform. In this role, he supports GlobalPlatform's marketing and product groups in the field of multiple application infrastructure.

Mr. Bernabeu was elected as GlobalPlatform's Technical Director in 2005. His main role is to drive forward the development of GlobalPlatform's smart card specifications and related technical initiatives. Mr. Bernabeu also acts as GlobalPlatform's central technical liaison point, coordinating the efforts of the organization's three technical committees – Card, Device and Systems – and the GlobalPlatform Task Forces. He ensures that all elements of GlobalPlatform-based smart card solutions are interoperable and offer backwards compatibility with previous technology releases. Prior to becoming GlobalPlatform Technical Director, Gil served GlobalPlatform as the Chair of the Systems Committee for over two years.

Henry Chai

Chair, FIDO China Working Group (FCWG), FIDO Alliance and CEO, Uni-ID Technology (Beijing) Limited

Mr. Chai is the Chair of FIDO China Working Group (FCWG). FCWG is the first regional working group established by the FIDO Alliance in January 2016, which is committed to facilitate the communication and cooperation within the China authentication ecosystem; ensure the unique technical requirements of FIDO specifications for the Chinese market to be met. In the meantime, by working closely with Chinese policy makers, achieve government’s support and endorsement. FCWG has made great effort in promoting FIDO deployment in China marketplace; improve FIDO awareness and localize FIDO solution. Henry Chai also is the CEO of Uni-ID Technology (Beijing) Limited, which is an exclusive AaaS (Authentication as a Service) provider domestically. Uni-ID is dedicated to provide cloud service on passwordless online authentication, together with citizen real name authentication service and application-level authentication service. Mr. Chai, as the CEO, leads the establishment of company and steers its strategic direction.

Christophe Colas

GlobalPlatform Device Committee Chair and Senior Vice President of Products, Trustonic

Mr. Colas is currently SVP Products at Trustonic. In this role, he is responsible for managing the overall portfolio of Trustonic products focused particularly around application protection. Mr. Colas has participated in the development of several software architectures including Visa Open Platform Terminal Framework which has since transferred to GlobalPlatform.

Mr. Colas has been involved with GlobalPlatform since its inception, and was elected to serve as the association's Device Committee Chair in 2009. He has also served as a GlobalPlatform Board Director since 2015.

Chunpei Feng


Chunpei, Feng is the senior director of security ecosystem department in Ant Financial Services Group. He has been responsible for database development in Alibaba from 2004 to 2009 and was awarded as the outstanding database engineer in China in 2006. He has been also responsible for big data platform in Alipay from 2010 to 2014 and security technologies & products in Ant Financial till now. He has been elected as the board chairman of Internet Financial Authentication Alliance (IFAA) since IFAA was established in 2015.

Nils Gerhardt

Group Vice President and Head of Product and Certification Management / Financial Solutions, Giesecke & Devrient

Mr. Gerhardt joined Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) in 2004 and currently serves as Group Vice President with a global product responsibility for financial institutions. Within this role, Mr. Gerhardt oversees product and project management, including product marketing and certification. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Gerhardt held the position of Vice President for Product and Project Management at Giesecke & Devrient Canada across the government, financial, telecommunication and transit sectors.

Mr. Gerhardt joined the GlobalPlatform Board of Directors in 2015 and also serves as Chair of the Consumer IoT Task Force.

Kevin Gillick

GlobalPlatform – Executive Director

As Executive Director of GlobalPlatform, Mr. Gillick is responsible for driving awareness and accelerating adoption of the GlobalPlatform Specifications within worldwide markets. Mr. Gillick coordinates and manages the organization's strategic planning and oversees all marketing and business development initiatives within key vertical market sectors. He works closely with GlobalPlatform's Technical Director, all three of the organization’s technical committees – Card, Device and Systems – and the GlobalPlatform Task Forces. Mr. Gillick is directly responsible to the Board of Directors and the GlobalPlatform membership.

Prior to his appointment to a full-time role within GlobalPlatform, Mr. Gillick held various marketing and business development positions at Datacard Group. Most recently, as Head of Corporate Marketing, he was responsible for worldwide marketing activities associated with the company's range of secure identity, card personalization and card life cycle management solutions. He managed several worldwide corporate marketing functions and was directly responsible for Datacard Group's market and brand positioning. While at Datacard Group, Mr. Gillick served the Smart Card Alliance on the Board of Directors, with a two year term as Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Gillick has served as GlobalPlatform’s full-time Executive Director since 2006. Prior to this appointment, and while in the employment of Datacard Group, he was actively involved in the organization as GlobalPlatform's Marketing Center Chair.

Vicky Guo

China Academy of Information and Communication Technology (CAICT)

Ms. Guo has 11 years of experience in mobile security and her work at CAICT focuses on research within TEE architecture and technology. Her main responsibilities include managing and drafting standards for the mobile terminal TEE and bring your own device (BYOD) for the China Communications Standards Association (CCSA). She also represents CAICT within GlobalPlatform.

In 2015, Ms. Guo played a key role in CAICT becoming a GlobalPlatform qualified laboratory. She has also organized multiple TEE technology workshops and relevant discussions around the topic.

Richard Hayton

CTO, Trustonic

Richard leads the architecture and research teams within Trustonic, focusing on new opportunities in IoT whilst extending our reach in Smartphone security. Prior to Trustonic, Richard was Chief Architect for Citrix Mobility, where he was responsible for crafting the XenMobile Enterprise Mobility Suite. During almost 20 years at Citrix, he led projects ranging from embedded software to global enterprise systems, with a focus on user and developer experience. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Cambridge University, focusing on identity federation for users, devices and services.

Yuchen He

Technical Project Manager – EMEA/APAC, FIME

Yuchen joined FIME in 2012 and is responsible for managing technical projects that involve mobile and payments testing, in addition to driving forward test tool development and acting as a liaison between customers and development teams. Yuchen and his teams deliver testing support for TEE and NFC mobile solutions, EMV® kernel development services and functional testing for payment schemes.

YUCHEN HE’S KEY ACHIEVEMENT Yuchen played an important role in developing FIME’s embedded technologies offering. For example, he participated in the refinement of our TEE test application and EMV® payment kernel testing processes.

Bo Hu


Mr. Bo Hu, leader of China Unicom TEE-eSIM project, principle member of China Unicom eSIM team, leading multiple technical projects on eSIM within China Unicom.

Michael Lu


Michael Lu is VP of Sales, China at Trustonic and has over 17 years of experience in the media and technology industry. Before joining Trustonic he was at ARM Ltd. responsible for product marketing of ARM’s security architecture platform and products based on ARM TrustZone technologies. His previous roles include a position with Freesat, a BBC/ITV satellite broadcasting platform in the UK, where he was responsible for UK digital TV standards and certification regime for UK retail TV and STB products.

Michael has been very active in GlobalPlatform to develop and promote the standardisation of TEE technology since his days at ARM. He was responsible for setting up the Premium Content Taskforce in 2013, where he was responsible for leading the efforts for defining the requirements for the protection of premium content; Michael was the vice-chair and interim chair for the Premium Content Task force and was part of the leadership team for GlobalPlatform.

Michael was also instrumental in proposing and supporting the set-up of a new, China Task Force within GlobalPlatform, now chaired by Guowei from CAICT, to promote the adoption of GlobalPlatform technology and the associated compliance/certification regime in China. .

Jack Pan

Executive Innovation Leader, China UnionPay and EMVCo Board of Manager

Dr. Jack Pan is the Executive Innovation Leader of China UnionPay where he is leading the emerging technology teams and activities. He has been closely involved in the Chip, Mobile and FinTech industry throughout his career spanning across Citibank, Visa and Watchdata before joining China UnionPay in 2015.

Jack is a member of the EMCo Board of Managers and also serves on the EMVCo Executive Committee.

Jack graduated with a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from University of Southern California in Los Angeles, U.S.A.

Jose Alejandro Rivas Vidal

Security Evaluator, Applus+

José A. Rivas Vidal is security evaluator at Applus+ Laboratories. He has been involved in different evaluations of SW and HW products, mainly under Common Criteria. He is the focal point and technical leader of TEE technology at Applus+ Laboratories. Recently, also, manager at Madrid's office. He holds a BSC in Mathematics and a MSC in Computer Security.

Wenbo Yang


Wenbo Yang is the director of identity authentication team in Ant Financial Services Group. He was graduated from Beijing university of aeronautics and astronautics, he has worked in ecommerce and finance areas in Amazon, Alibaba and Ant Financial Services Group. Specializing in vertical search and personalized recommendation technology in the ecommerce field, with high traffic and high concurrency architecture design and processing capacity. Now the senior technical expert for ant financial, responsible for the identity security product and technology team, and serves as secretary-general of the Internet Financial Authentication Alliance(IFAA).

A TEE instructor-led training session is available 13-14 September. The course, given in English language, is open to both GlobalPlatform members and non-members.
